Action Wrestling is an e-fed, a wrestling writing hobby where handlers create storylines, angles and matches for fun. Action is an angle fed, meaning it is not RP based. All winners, title holders, etc, are coordinated through the entire group as a whole to create fun and compelling (hopefully) storytelling.
Action is themed as a comic book, so to clarify the terminology please look at the following:
ISSUES – consider the term ‘issues’ as Action Wrestling’s shows or events. It’s understandable if you’re lost with all the terminology and it can get a little complex. For the most part, Action Wrestling will work within the first 3 bullet points so read beyond if you’d like for additional information.
- WEEKLIES – the bi-weekly Action Wrestling shows, which are self-titled with numbers. So Action Wrestling 1, 2, etc. Additionally, Action uses a colour coded scheme, so it’s either going to be Action Wrestling Blue or Gold. Blue are the normal, bi-weekly shows, which are heavily summarized matches. Gold appear when needed and don’t use the hard-capped summarized match style, everything is written out to be a little longer. So cards will count up, Action Wrestling 1 (Blue), Action Wrestling 2 (Blue), Action Wrestling 3 (Gold) but might have a different coloured tag but for the foreseeable future, all events will be Action Wrestling BLUE.
- ANNUALS – in comic book terms it’s an over-sized special release in addition to the regular comics of a particular series. So in other words, ANNUALS are Action Wrestling’s pay-per-views which will happen 4 times a year, typically during the same periods. The ‘Core 4’ are as followed: 1.) a (MARCH) MADNESS CARD held in March, typically a tournament of some kind to crown ____ (eg. King of Submissions, Beat the Clock, No Holds Barred, etc), 2.) a SUPER CARD held in June, which will always be overseas, 3.) a HALLOWEEN CARD held in October, think along the lines of WCW’s Halloween Havoc with the addition of gimmick matches, 4.) a CHRISTMAS CARD held in December, a holiday themed show to end the season.
- GIANT SIZE – a title commonly used by Marvel in the 60s and 70s to signify the comics were double the length of a regular issue. This is the once-a-year Action Wrestling event with no page/character restrictions on matches and segments. It’s considered the WrestleMania event and will usually take place in late July or August, titled Action Wrestling GIANT.
- ONE SHOTS – a work composed of a single standalone issue or chapter, contrasting a limited series or ongoing series, which are composed of multiple issues or chapters so in other words for Action Wrestling, it’s the role-play board. Even though Action is an angle fed, many angle feds still make use of an RP board.
- BACK-UPS – typically a short story in the back of another comic book. They may feature a secondary story of the character, a new character that the publisher is trying out, or a character who isn’t popular enough to have their own series. In terms of Action Wrestling, back-ups are like AEW Dark/Elevation, WWE House Shows, etc. It’s dark match information, usually once or twice a month with a short 2-3 sentence write-up over who won and lost.
- LIMITED SERIES – a series with a set number of issues where six issues is most common but it varies. LIMITED SERIES will be used in Action for preludes or storylines needed to be displayed outside of shows.
- CROSSOVERS – hopefully self-explanatory, there are many other efeds out there and this would be anything inter-promotional where the cards will be posted here (as well as elsewhere).
- VARIANTS (BLACK/SILVER/BRONZE) – elseworld and out-of-continuity stories, or in other words non-canon events, completely out of the timeline. For example, DC Comics has a Black Label where they experiment with singular stories such as Joker turning to the good side and Batman going bad, etc. VARIANTS for Action Wrestling can explore a similar nature. Maybe there’s a show where the faces and heels swap, or a jobber holds the championship, etc. Labels can know no bounds.
- OMNIBUS – a collection of either essential storylines or a complete series. For Action it’s the event archive.
